help needed from all you boffins :lol:

you know the black box in the footwell of the passenger side well when we turn heater on there is smoke coming from it :roll:  does anyone know what the black box is and why it is smoking

wondering if it has anything to do with air flow as my side ( passenger is the side that doesnt clear )

Hello,

Chances are its the fan baox that blows the air.  I would be not use the fan at all and get it fixed pronto.   The car could catch fire inside the dashboard which would be hard to put out, even if you have an extinguisher.

The fan could be stuck (a leaf of other rubbish) or just worn out.

would it be ok for alex with no knowledge of cars to undo the screw on top of it to see if he can find anything

when we was at school we had a look at the box and saw some blue elastice that looked like the ones on the magic tree air freshener
now we are wondering if the person who had it before us may have had them up and one has gone down the front air vent on my side and may be it blocked it or something and thats why air vent doesnt clear my side of window

Definitely sounds a possibility - but I would only endorse the suggestion above and get it checked pronto.
