Title: New Disco
Post by: Leigh on October 16, 2005, 19:19:09
Now the proud owner of a '94 Discovery 300 tdi ES. Managed to do a straight swap for my Pajero.

One of the first things I would like to do is take off the front valance. Could shorter end caps be bought or do I have to cut them?

You'll have to cut them, a Jigsaw works wonders.

Thanks for the link Gords. I think I like the idea of getting a 200 bumper and saving mine just in case, unless you can get a 300 bumper and end caps without the valance.

I've already started spending money in my head Jake

Looks very nice - but I'd suggest ... lose the side steps, lose the valance, lose the tow bar

The first two will quite likely get ripped off while pay-n-playing, the tow bar makes a very loud noise when it (frequently) hits the ground

The side steps are definitly coming off! May even sell them but not sure what they're worth.
I would imagine the tow bar would be like pulling a plough

Yep, "commonly known as..."

I used my car off road for quite a while with the towbar fitted. Most of the time it was fine, but it was always catching/banging/digging up/etc

Yes, it's good for protection, but you're not that near when it hits

Somehow i suspect you'll be heading for some lifting and mighty muds!  cant help but wish we'd hung on to the comfort machine and modified it  congrats on disco ownership

Better get used to it or get a loud stereo, mine gives me wierd lugs when i do a proper day behind the wheel, everything rattles and the transfer whine at motorway speeds is a real character builder!  I love it regardless
