Put a mid pipe replacement and decat on yesterday. she now sounds lovely but is about as loud as a chav'd up corsa (obviously sounds better though!) whats the best way to silence it down a bit. I was thinking of putting the cat back on?

Chav lol...
It will get quieter after a few miles when the inside gets sooted up, but if you still find it too load then either:
Put the centre silencer back on - a much better option that putting the CAT back on
Or....
Give me a shout and I'll sort you out another centre pipe with a smaller than standard silencer, that is better with regards to flow than a standard one... and I'd take the straight through silencer back in part exchange ;) - this will take the harshness off the noise.

cheers Ian! Ill give it a few miles and see what it sounds like then!if not ill get in touch about the smaller silencer! certainly gave the local corsa boys a run for their money when I went to get a takeaway last night! they couldnt work out where the noise was coming from when all they could see was a defender!

Lol...
You just need a stage 2 remap, a big cooler and one of my VNT conversions!! Then you will really scare the 'chavs'. My mate whose 90 has a genuine 186bhp (thanks to my remap, cooler etc etc) - loves winding up the local baseball cap brigade! They don't expect a 90 to accelerate to 60 so quickly (about 8.5 seconds).
All being well, I will have some of the centre silencer pipes (i.e. one with a small silencer) 'on the shelf' as such in just over a week.

Can cat be removed with no noise increase?
Do you still get better performance?
Thanks Andy

Removing the CAT will not effect noise by any noticeable level (will be same as any pre 2002 Defender), but will help reduce exhaust back pressure, which in turn will reduce turbo lag.....

Wasn't to sure if I'd got use to it, but it would explain why it's quieter than when I change to straight through pipe.
