Does anyone out there have any experience of these on a Disco, and if so how do you rate them as I've been offered one.
Cheers
Chris

No experience Chris but the web site for them is rather good, full of info.

I'm a bit thick when it comes to under the bonnet, so what can be done to a 10 year old 200 Tdi Disco to improve performance :?:
Intercooler :?:
Fuel Pump tweak :?:
Cheers.

You might want to talk to Andy @ Alllisport if you want some advice.
He's a nice chap (he's a mate of mine, so I have to say that ;-) ), and very knowledgable.

Most of the 'intercooler' people will offer similar things. IMHO, there's not much point in putting a big intercooler in if you are not going to adjust the fuelling and / or fuel mapping accordingly.
Have a look around, and talk to a few people. There is PLENTY can be done with a 200 tdi... I've been in one of Allisport's vehicles and even I was impressed.... and I'm a V8 diehard ;-)

Nice testimonial Tim!

you know, initially I read that as "Mallard Intercooler"...
but that would be more likely on the "other" forum I guess

If you track down the LRE magazine forum there was a huge piece on low money upgrades, I have beefed up the performance of my 200TDi by turning up the boost to that of a 300 (from 0.8 to 1bar) cost about £30 (actually saved my engine as the waiste gate was stuck and it was boosting to 1.5bar) and tweeked the fuel pump, haven't found an upgrade intercooler -yet :-)
If you can't find it on the LRE magzine forums then mail me I'll see whats still on my hard drive.
-
Hmm.... sounds interesting like to know more please.
Its in at the garage on Thursday so if you could send me some details of what you've done to yours I ask him about it.
Has your fuel comsumption been affected?
PM me or email me LRDisco@aol.com
Cheers.

ah boost increase
im for that
who can do it for me and where?
wanna ensure that disco inferno doesnt leave me for dust on the way to langdale!

Right I think I've found the thread on LRE forum :?:
http://www.lrenthusiastforum.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=LR_technical&Number=91564&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=
But i'm affraid it's all a bit over my head, think I'll wait and see my mechanic on Thursday

I spent a bit of time reading that a while ago.
Bit too scary for me to go fiddling about with things like that - knowing my luck I'd blow the engine up!
Think I'd feel much better paying someone professional to do something like that.
Did anyone see that write up on charge-coolers in LRe? Now fitting something like that I could turn my hand to I daresay!

Another one, there you go again Chris 'Charge-coolers' hey :?:
Please enligthen us thickos :D

Charge-cooler - water to air cooler rather than air to air
Seperate radiator in front for cooling water, needs its own reservoir and pump. Water is much better than air for thermal transfer and cools the air from the turbo more efficiently than traditional air intercooler.

Right, I'm with you :?
:D :D :D

Here we go then, I've had a quick look and it sounds impressive. Only downside is cost.
http://www.jjf.intercoolers.btinternet.co.uk/
There is also an article in LRO mag December issue 2002 on more power and torque. Unless you know what your doing then its a bit risky, and they say not altogether really needed.
Anyway if you have the issue in question take a look, good read.

Right then, I've read the threads and the techy bit on LRe and have decided not to install the intercooler.
So, one Allard intercooler for sale. Done 5,000 miles, will fit a 200tdi disco or defender £80. Call (my mate) Dave Archer on 07957 382628.
I'll post this in the for sale bit as well.
