A chap at work (one of the nice few!) has a 2002 freelander td4 auto. His auto box only has 1st, 2nd and reverse now and has been quoted £1900 to get a recon box fitted. Is this the right price or anyone know anywhere in the Daventry area that could do a better job cheaper?
cheers

Probably not far off, It's the basically the same 'box as a Rover 75 & they were a pain the the butt when they went wrong. May be worth checking the electrical connections are clean ETC before condeming it.

so a 2nd hand rover 75 auto box would fit too? A different line to look for in the 2nd hand stakes?

As far as I know, not I'm afraid. The bell housing side will probably be different to accomodate the IRD. Plus they are linked to an ECU which would'nt recognise a Rover box. I have to admit that the connection route would still be my 1st port of call, there's quite a few! ;)
