Title: Disco TD5 airsprings
Post by: MICK on April 28, 2008, 15:34:24
Is there any real disadvantage in changing the airsprings on my Disco Td5 to coils, i have trouble with the airsprings and am getting fed up with them.
Its our main family car so any off roading is gentle, does it make any diffrence to the handling etc. Would it be worth getting a small lift on the suspension at the same time.
Or should i just get the airsprings fixed?

Depends on the problems you have - new air springs are about £90 a piece I think, but if its the compressor thats gone belly-up then it's a good few quid.

I've not had any probs with my SLS, and find it really useful. If (when ?) the airbags start to leak I'll replace them, but if the compressor packs up, then I'll have to think about coverting to traditional coils.

I put my td5 on coils 12 months ago and there is no change in handling and vehicle sits level and doesnt get affected by the caravan on the back either.
