Title: Parabolics done
Post by: stevethedent on March 20, 2010, 15:27:27
WOW WOW WOW What a difference!!! The ride on this Landy is so different. I am absolutely amazed at way this ser 3 handles the biggest speed humps. I now drive over them at 30 mph instead of having to slow down to a crawl so my spine stays in place. I have also had it on the hard & rocky and the black and slippery and it has made a big difference. The wheels seem to stay on the ground a lot more and the extra height and articulation is brilliant. I have not changed the shocks or brake pipes and Have not had a problem with either. I wish I had done this before now. Anyone out there who has old leaf springs and has thought of renewing them get them done I Guarantee you will be amazed. If anyone has any questions, please fire away. I had these supplied & fitted for less than £500 at Landranger services in Stockport. I recommend this garage to anyone in the Northwest They have the have a vast range of spares in store and are real enthusiasts themselves Unit 1 Sheffield street Stockport SK4 1RU Tel: 0161 474 0101 (Not a upthereownbutt main dealer)

For those of you who thought this was expensive I have gone through the bill and I think you will find it fair. Firstly I said the bill was under £500 that was because I didn't have the bill to hand The accurate fig is £437 The springs pins, shackles, etc cost £269+vat  total £317 Which leaves the labour costs at about £100 +vat  which to spend a full day wresltling with 30 year old siezed pins & nuts and bolts etc is bloody good value for money. For the rivet counters out there all the figures are approx and have been rounded up to whole pounds so don't go looking for your calculater. The main thing is I am more than happy with the results.

Parts and labour isn't so bad. If it was just for fitting, it'd be extortionate.

Me again, sorry I didn't see the post asking me what make the springs are until today.
The springs are made by GME springs in coventry who don't seem to deal direct with the public.
The springs can be ordered through Landranger services in stockport 0161 474 0101
or try your own local supplier. Do it you will not be disappointed.

P.S.......... Just posted some pics of the one piece screen I made. Go to the post headed one piece screen.
