Title: Terrafirma Shocks?????
Post by: 300TDi Disco on July 19, 2009, 10:43:38
Hi, I have seen a set of shocks on ebay which are made by Terrafirma.

Link:  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230336657393&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT&salenotsupported

What do people know of these shocks.

Regards.

Terrafirma are developing a good reputation, I know a few running the springs and shocks and they swear by them.

I would investigate other suppliers though, just to be sure on my prices. I know you can get the full springs AND shocks for £220! https://shop.rallyraid.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=TF204&cat=46

Recently went to a pit day with norfolk&suffolk 4x4 response and one of the guys there had just recently changed his suspension set up to include terrafirma springs and shocks. There was a lot more involved such as dislocating cones and all the gubbins but after a quick lap as a passenger I was extremely impressed with the ride. He crossed some quite extreme ground at speed with the springs dislocating at more than one occasion yet the ride was probably far smoother than my standard shocked 110 on the road  (maybe I should check my suspension out :-k ) I can't comment on their on road capability but for offroad they definately get my vote.

I know of half a dozen people who have fitted them and they have all been very happy with them.

Whilst i have standard springs (ish) I have Terrafirma shocks and they are very controlled and for the price they get my vote. Definitely firmed up the ride from the previous standard faire, Yet absorbs the bigger bumps without feeling too harsh.

That will be me the suvvey.
They are very good shocks and springs for the money involved.
I am very happy with how mine perform but have since needed to move on to a different type of suspension.
But as i said, very happy with how they perform on and off road.

I have the +5" with +2 mounts and so far they have been excellent on and off road, was advised to smear a little grease on the top of the shaft as they are allegedly prone to rust there.

How do they compare to brands like ProComp on the road then? they are roughly the same price :-k  I was thinking of trying DeCarbon again on the LSE but for the money I'm spoikt for choice.

Can't mention the name of my springs, it upsets too many people on here , lets just say that they're orange and I don't think you can get them from where I bought them anymore.

I replaced DeCarbons putting these on and find absolutely fine.

Terrafirma's are firmer than the Pro Comp's, For pure off road flexiness and wallowey ride the pro comps have it. They kinda just do that on road too.  :-k

at least you can get them. I have been waiting for a month for a rear set for the range rover, apparently there is a short supply and on back order from my local supplier.

Thanks, they might not be what I want on the LSE then, the EAS is harder than coils already (LR specified a different shock).
