Advice needed chaps, thinking tentatively about getting a 02 reg Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD anyone got one? I need to know what to lookout for, I think it’s the same engine as fitted to the M Benz ML270 is it a good unit? The one I have looked at has done 66500m so not a lot on diesel.
Are they ok off road, nothing too extreme as it has to be my daily drive but would like to fit bigger A/T’s or even some M/T’s to give it a bit of a lift (what’s the biggest you can fit on 17 allys without any mods) any idea on mpg etc? any help appreciated!
Thanks Chris. :D

Never heard bad things about the CRD its a route I'll probably take when the GC wears out...

Also thinking about getting a V8 Overland  and having LPG fitted, anyone have a V8, what do you get mpg wise ?
Chris :D

Believe the V8 mpg might not be too silly...

Also, what is the difference between the transmissions for the 2.7CRD / 4.7V8 on the CRD the gear selector is on one side of the tunnel and on the V8 its on the other side so is it a totally different set up, are the axles etc the same, Quadra-track ?? which is the best setup?
Thanks in anticipation!

Personally I would go for the V8 on LPG, plenty of power and fine off road in standard form. The V8 is PDQ and is capable of four wheel power drifting, if that floats your boat.
Mileage wouldn't be much different to petrol, ....and its less than half-price fuel !
Having said that, I did a Jeep Day and was very pleased with the CRD's performance both off road and on tarmac.
Maybe the only things you need to consider are the insurance cost and general servicing costs of each model.

Well I bought the V8 Overland  will be getting it converted soon, can anyone recommend a good system to fit? don't want to get a bad one fitted [-X so any help would be appreciated ;)

I have an OMVL sequential multipoint fitted by AJ Services, Dronfield.

It might be worth you ringing John or Andy on 01246 415555 and having a natter about your conversion. They will prob be able to advise where you could get a conversion locally.
John knows his stuff inside out and is always happy to explain about conversions.
