Title: Oil/water temp probes, Changing capillary ether type to later wired type?
Post by: lightweight-love on March 25, 2010, 01:13:01
Im rebuilding a 1976 s111 lightweight and both the capillary ether tubes are broken, does anyone know if the wire type sensors can be fitted instead? same thread etc?

If it's a standard 2.25 then the following should fit. Water temp is usually just behind the thermostat housing on the drivers side, and the oil temp should be in the sump on the passenger side IIRC.

Do not, under any circumstance, by anything other than a genuine one. You don't want to know how many I went through to find this out......

You'll need one of the corresponding temp/temp/fuel gauges as well.

I ended up just replacing the capillary type in the end but I think the Wire type would fit and certainly cheaper! Ta for link.
