Title: 1995 300tdi Confused Lights!
Post by: Skibum346 on May 20, 2007, 20:39:55
Right... fitted new headlights at the West Midlands Service day... didn't check they worked as they should... after all... just a couple of electrical plugs to unplug/replug...

Mistake!

Engine running...

Sidelights on - missing drivers side dim headlight
Headlights on - passenger side flickers to almost orange
Main beam on - headlights go to dim!

erm.... any suggestions...?!

Connectors have been checked and are firmly seated.

First thing I'd try is connecting a second earth to the headlamp connectors, if that doesn't do anything try bypassing the dim-dip resistor on the bulkhead (turbo side) - looks like a small bronze/brass colour block.

Any Christmas tree effects are usually bad earths, but mine went a bit wobbly when I changed my headlight too, echo that about rubbish connections!
