About five years ago I'm sure I saw an German magazine (no not that type of magazine) with a SJ diesel on the front cover, did they ever make that model in RHD? What engine did they use? What BHP? What was the MPG?
-
I dunno, never heard of one myself :?
-
hi m8 wot you lookin for? suzuki didnt make an sj with a derv lump in im affraid they did a vitara van a few years ago
the only way to get a derv sj is to do it yourself im affraid
you got 2 options really
(1) like i did fit a pug 1.9/1.7 derv lump via a conversion plate to sammy box(rhinoray used to do these kits)
(2) vauxhall conversion usin the 1.5/1.7 derv lump via calton gearbox
hope this helps

I know a long wheelbase Vitara is available but I didn't know you could get a short wheelbase, I quite fancy one of those especially a van. :D :D :D
-
hi neil
the van is a rare motor i've only seen 2 in the last couple of yrs for sale so ur gonna be lucky to find one maybe try autotrader??

I am afraid you are so wrong about the diesel fitment in an SJ.
Suzuki factory fit a 1.9 lump in the Samuari

Now then, if a deisel is made at the factory do they make a RHD model?
-
Never say never !
I think that the Maruti Gypsy King comes as a RHD, but unsure if they make a diesel !!!
Chances are, that they did not make a RHD diesel SJ, BUT................

What about the Diahatsu 4x4, are they compatible with the suzukis, not knowing anything about this side of these vehicles at all, but they have some nice diesels in their 4x4s
-
I think the Diahatsu diesel would be far too heavy for ant Suzuki.
I know of a few Peugeots and lots more Vauxhall( Izuzu) engines 1.5 from a Nova

has anyone ever put a diesal into a vitara, currently a 1.6 8 valve petrol
if so, what enginbe, gearbox etc did you use, cheers
-
Hi,
I'm currently looking at fitting a 1.8 ford diesal mated to a 16v sierra gearbox into my sj410. I've seen a conversion recently and apart from the obvious exhaust, loom, addition fuel return, axle over, transmission tunnel mods etc, etc , the owner said it was fairly straight forward !!!
There's a plentiful supply of ford bits. I've bought the bits from a breaker for £200, now all i need is time.... lots of time.
P.S. if anyone has done this and can advise any major pitfalls, i'd like to know before i commit myself.

iv' got a pug 1.9 306 i bought last, year from a salvage yard ,was going to mot it but when i got my sammy i wanted to put the lump in that ,rhino ray used to sell the conversion plates but checking his website he seems to only do the conversion for you now(i wanna do it myself )... so i think im gonna graft an isuzu1.5 ( corsa) derv and carlton gearbox ... has anyone done this convert before and what problems did you experience.........ps pugs for sale now (cheap)
-
The ford conversion does not need an adapter plate. The top 4 bolts line up and give correct shaft alignment. The bottom fixings and 2 dowel pins are almost there and only need minor work. The main job is getting the sierra clutch arm to operate the sierra clutch when on the escort flywheel. I'm working on that one.....
-
keep us posted as im interested to hear how you get on ....good luck
-
Wing nut what pugs you got and how cheap. tom
