hi after lots off looking no comanys make winch mounts to use standard bumper on jimny so made my own , her are the pics it houses a 4500lb winch . which acording to KAP is plenty for the light jimny. if any one wants to make one can supply pics eith bumper off and more details. :D :D

Hmm, looks a litlle low. Is there no risk of that getting really smacked one and pushed back into the arm. Maybe a detachable guard uder it?
Looks good though. Should work for a Vit too as its just void there.
-
awww- wot a cute little winch and fairlead
you should seriously consider where the plug in for your remote sits - when u are stuck you may not be able to get to them
-
know what you mean about the plug it is low but the best i could do as car is still under waranty. and should not cut it about to much,
ps the winch seems very powerfull for its size (4500lb) it pulled a old rolls royce shadow up the hill by me and there not light
-
Colin
I know wot u mean those jimnys are light and 4500 will give you a lot of tug
its the size of the fairlead that tickles me!
-
never mind the fairlead, what about the wire
-
4500lb is a bit light! As you'll be using it to pull landrovers out of a sticky situation that they always get themselves into! :)
Ps only messingdon't need a debate
-
lol
4500lbs is fine for something that weighs next to nowt!
as for pulling LRs - well he wont because its unlikey that they will be stuck!
-
 i can vouch for colin`s fairlead lol suits the car quite well for the size lol
-
Davidlandy,
Everyone get stuck. including Landrovers, It's the not me attitude that will mean more pulling when you do! :D and you know that a jimny will be allowed to go out with the lads and one off them will need pulling
Ig
-
even with a 12000 lb winch on a jimny unless its tethered its unlikely to be able to pull a LR out of anything - it will just probably drag the jimny to the trouble spot
as for LRs getting stuck - they do sometimes
-
thanks keith but you are all correct it could not pull a landrover out but you all say there the best 4x4 by far so should not have to.
-
still got my s3 also!
-
My winch............
-
Oh and a pic of a jimny recovering a landrover..........
-
more details on the winch and the bumper please that looks good also have you got a lift kit on her!
thanks colin

The bumper is a KAP item which I modified so I could mount the winch behind it. Its a 9000lb cheapo winch, mounted on a plate which in turn is mounted at the rear on the chassis cross member and at the front on a new cross member welded in place. The electrics are mounted under the bonnet. Yes Jimny has a 2" lift.

Thats a tidy winch and bumper!
I found this for the GV, however don't want to start hacking the car yet as i'm the same as Colin, the car is still under warrenty!

But when the time comes the list is long.....
-
very nice may go for winch bumper and how does it handle on the road with the lift as i want a lift but do 15k a year min on the road
-
I had to fit a steering damper and it still wanders a bit, would benefit from a caster correction kit? but funds won't allow at moment.
-
ok as soon as sell my landrover will have to mod the little jimny a bit more then!
thanks colin
