Can anyone advise whether body/bumper mods will be needed on my SJ413 to get this size tyre on? Also, will they fit the standard rims OK, or should I be looking at wider rims?
Looking at Greenway Macho's... anyone had experience of these?
OK,OK, so I said I wasn't going to mod it too much :roll: But you know how it is! Other thing to go on is likely to be the Calmini 5" suspension kit :D

I've had Grizzly Claws that size on the last 2 of mine. You will have to lift it, even with a 2" shackle lift on my sami they still managed to mangle the edge of one of the arches! I have to have my wheels on backwards otherwise they hit the front springs after a turn of the steering wheel! They still catch now but only on full lock. Mine are standard rims but a friend who works for Motorsport Wheels said really the widest tires on those rims should be 205/215's, but I’ve never had any problems.
Don't know anything about Machos but can vouch for Grizzlys, absolutly brilliant tire on most terrain.

Hmmm.... thanks for that. I'll take a look at the offsets on aftermarket steel rims to see if they allow for more spring clearance.
How do others deal with the bigger 31x10.50 tyres? Spacers?

I've got spacers on mine with Grand vitara 7x16" rims and 205/16 Bronco Diamond back copys, the only thing that stops me is diff clearence but very rarely 8)

Right, I'm looking at the ubiquitous 7x15 white 8 spoke wheels (£25 each on eBay) and 235/75x15 Greenway Machos (naff name, but neat tread pattern!). Bit like the Mickey Thompson, but a LOT cheaper!
I think I might temper my enthusiasm a little and go for the 3.5" Calmini lift kit. It will save me £100 over the 5" version too :lol:
I'm not worried about having to chop the car about to get them to fit. Just nice to know in advance. The rear arches are a bit rough anyway.

The size will fit OK with those tyres you just have to check the inside of the tyre on full articulation (stuff) that the tyre doesn't come into contact the front shock mounting, check both sides both zooks I've had the axles are not quite in the centre

when i had my sj i just did a 1.5" shackle lift and a 2" body lift , and that fitted 31's fine, it was a lot cheaper than the calmini kit

If your arches are a bit rotten anyway do what I've done to mine, I say I've what i mean is some one else is doing!! I'm fitting the wheels at the weekend so I'll get pitures to show the actual clearance.

I'd be interested in seeing how you are modding the arches. Looks like the rears can be done with a sheet coming straight out from the top of the inner arch.
Does anyone know of any aftermarket arch extensions available in the UK? Would need to fix on from the side rather than underneath.

Coming straight off the inner arch was the original plan on mine. But it was deemed easier to build new ones! Have a look at my gallery/earlier topic.
Fronts will be a bit more problematic but they should be finshed on Sunday so i'll get some piccys.

Well, the Greenway Macho's have arrived ..... they are a tad more aggresive than I had expected :shock: :lol: Safe to say Micheal, my 10 year old son, will love them! They make the BFG MT's on the 110 look really tame :lol:
Also been talking to KAP again and sorted out various bits for a 3" lift :D
So much for not modding the zuke...... :roll:
P.S. Question.......
How am I to get 5 white 8 spokes and 5 *big* tyres in an SJ to get them to the garage???? :lol: Managed all the wheels, but only 3 tyres so far!

If its a 410 there should be space under the bonnet!! :lol: :lol:
Or, you and a passenger could drive with the windows open and hold on to one each outside, you'll just need to share the driving ie he changes gear :D
On a serious note, have you tried taking the passenger seats out?

My wife had her car in work, so put the last 2 tyres in the Freelander. Dropped them off at the garage last night for them to fit up. The springs, dampers, etc will be with me next week so I can fit them the following weekend :D I'll get some pics then.

Sowden's were the cheapest I found, but got a wheel/tyre package deal from a guy on eBay (Stuart at 'geared to go').

Got my Zuke today :lol:
Didn't bother with the other one, there was no fuel cap, the passenger window mech was knackered, the guy's son said he wasn't so sure the gearbox or transfer box were any good, and appart from 2 headlamps and a towbar there was nothing worth having! he did let me nick the drivers door for the window mech on mine..... but I couldnt crack 2 of the bolts on the tow bar, they'd need heat for a chisel... I had neither!
I ve been quoted £ 46 + VAT Fitted, Valves and balanced? for 215 - 75 x 15 Macho's at Cambridge Performance Tyres..... I was just going to do a 2" shackle lift... but looking at your tyres I am concerned about them catching..... what do you think?

I would like to think you will be OK with the 215/75's. They are still bigger than the standard 205/70 of course. I haven't tried mine one yet. I was going to wait till the suspension arrived. Been told the 235/75's might just catch the bumper bracket. Anyway, we shall see.
Chances of them being able to balance them is pretty slim, but you'll only be doing 50mph flat out anyway! Bear in mind, they are directional, so whichever way you fit the spare you can be sure it will be the wrong way for your first puncture!!

Ih Have a New, Never used Michelin with quite an agressive patten on it for the spare.....
I thought 195 r 15 were the standard size...... all 5 of my tyres are 195r15, but sayingt that I have Vitara rims! maybe i'll stick with 195/80 r 15's then.....
Almost sorted the "flat spot" today...... I removed what look like the ORIGINAL spark plugs and fitted some new V grooved baby's and sprayed a can of carb cleaner through the carb...... its almost gone... she has what looks like a new dizzy cap so I'll get some leads tomorrow and chuck them at it....
She looks quite solid, o/s/f wing at the bottom front corner has gone, o/s/r wing behind fuel fill allows some ventilatyion too but underneath is good!
I have problems with my lights, I "sometimes" get DIP, but never Main Beam...... I'll strip back the plastic and check the switch at that end, theres an ebay seller asking £20 for one!
I've painted the lower part silver all round, and removed the Nudge Bar.... good job too..... If someone had used it to pull me out of somewhere boggy at the end of the month ther bar and zuke would have parted company. 3 bolts sheared with very little presure.... all four are now new.
I'll need an exhaust soon, but its fine for now, had real fun today, the new zuke is very addictive!

I offered up one of the 235/75's to the front yesterday..... No Way is it going on without significant surgery in the arch department :lol: I feel lots of fun with an angle grinder coming on :lol:
