Hi everyone
I've recently acquired two SJ's and although one seems to be running well, the other almost certainly needs the head gasket replaced. I'm not much of a mechanic but keen to have a go (and thankfully have lots of patience!) - hoping that someone could answer a couple of questions before I take the plunge....
Firstly, where can I buy a new head gasket from? (I live in the centre of Birmingham) I presume its best to replace with a new one not a 2nd hand one?
What other seals/parts should I have ready to complete the job?
What should the approx cost of parts be? And if I do give up or chicken out, what sort of price would an honest garage charge for parts and labour?
Finally, the sills also need some attention and although I don't mind dabbling with spanners I wouldn't have a clue what to do with a welding torch - anyone recommend a garage for this?
