Title: td4 loss of power
Post by: aaron on May 18, 2009, 21:04:32
Hi all,  just been for a drive in my mates 05 td4 so he could show me a fault with it. Intermittently at around 70mph or equivalent rpm, it just stops pulling and will not rev any higher. The engine warning light also comes on too, then as soon as the light goes out it revs harder. Any ideas anyone?

Been here myself and its a 30 quid fix!!!

Check out my post about half way down this page http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/td4-power-loss-when-pulling-away-23216-10.html (http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/td4-power-loss-when-pulling-away-23216-10.html).  My 51 plate was exactly the same as you have described. found the above thread spent £30+vat at the main dealers, 1/2 an hour of my time and i now have a TD4 that regularly sees 3 figures on the speedo (confirmed by gps).

All you need is a 10mm socket. if you want a photo let me know.
Good luck

Tony

Hi Boet,

I had a similar problem and took my 2005 Freelander to a friend who read the codes with his analyser and it came up as a fuel pressure sensor fault.
After cleaning the 3 wire connector on the end of the fuel rail  the fault dissapeared and it still going well after 5000 km
Hoping this might solve your problem

Regards
Johan
