Can any real drivers (not car salesmen) give me an idea of the sort of economy I could expect on a TD4 were I to go down this route. Also can they run on bio diesel.
TIA
Damian

We've never checked precisely, but I would guess we get 30-35mpg from ours.
I doubt there would be any problem with running a 5% mix bio diesel. Beyond that, I'd check with Land Rover themselves.
-
LR do not endorse bio fuels unfortunately - but there are a few out there running it
MPG for me around the same
-
we did 35mpg on a long run last year, roof box, bikes and a full car. i was quite impressed with it.
on average i would say we get between 33 and 38 mpg, with swmbo tootling around to work/shops/freinds etc
-
You mean a new TD4 or the old Td4? Or was it the other way round? :?
-
well if it's the new one, we had an auto for a few weeks while ours was in the garage, did the same trip as in my previous post ( north devon to peterborough) and managed a measily 29.7 mpg according to the computer. that was with no bikes, no roof box and about half as much stuff in the car

Mines a 2006 'old' td4
I had a FL2 TD4 auto for a few weeks and it cost me a fortune in fuel - then LR dealer sold it so gave me a TDV6 LR3  it was even worse

G3ORGE we used to run (until a couple of weeks ago) a 52 plate Td4. On a run, you could get into the "high 30's" in terms of mpg, however, just shrot journeys (which it mostly did) we averaged 30-31mg, which for the type of driving conditions, I still think is pretty good. There were also actuals, not some trip computer or guesses. Used to calculate by using mileage between full fill-ups and using 4.545 litres per gallon to convert.
Just replaced it with a new FL2 TD4 2.2 manual - will be keeping an eye on it over coming months, particularly as diesels enconomy always seems to improve with a few 1000 clicks on the counter.

lol i thought it was around the 40mpg mark !!! im looking at getting rapeseed oil bio diesel !!
-
On my 50 mile journey to work, on typical Welsh cross country poor A roads, and by not exceeding 2000 revs (about 53mph) I am getting just over 40 mpg.
-
i do a 58 aprrox mile round trip to work daily then running round at weekends usely do about between 400 to 430 miles between fill ups i think about 35 to the gallon thats in an 04 td4
-
Well I filled up on the way home from work in the early hours of the morning,
54 litres and 515 miles on the trip, which I think works out to roughly 43 mpg.
Quite pleased with that.

Got an x-reg Td4 LWB and one tank give me about 430-450 miles. I think its great. I had a HSE Disco 3 TDV6 Autofor a few days, trip from Loughborough to Sennybridge and it used half a tank each way - was glad it wasnt my fuel i was putting in it!!

I know all the responses to the mere suggestion of a petrol !!! but I do a 40 mile commute on mud tyres with roof bars on all the time along A roads and get around 30 mpg. Considering the price difference I'd have to do a lot more miles to recover the cost ofa diesel model. It's been reliable and easy and clean, and I can still ad an LPG kit that would return alnost double the pence per mile. Not so much torque of power as the TD4 but hey mine would be £1000 or more less to buy in the first place!
Think on it, next time you completely rule out a 1.8 K series.
Awaiting the avalaunche of abuse now !!!!!! :-o :-o =; =;

Currently paying an extortionate 50p ltr for LPG which in terms of todays UL & Derv prices is giving me an average equivalent of 40mpg+ from V6 Mainly around town with muds and a decent load on board.(  :lol:all the way to the bank.) Gives the silly boys a run for their money and frightens small children
-
2002 td4 manual i get 37-41MPG and my 2002 td4 auto i get 35-36 MPG and in sport mode or trashing it 33-34
-
I just got a new FL 2 and , believe me, the computer shows I am driving as 26 liter of gasoline per 100 km. I emailed the dealer to know if such high consumption is normal during the engine first miles. No reply so far. The vehicle had a "reduced engine performance" trouble just 15 minutes after leaving the dealer spot/ may be this confused the whole [!Expletive Deleted!]/
