Hi folks, rrc 3.5 efi lpg 1986.
Freeplay at steering wheel is what it says, so wondered if there is any adjustment to take up/tighten the steering?
Oh, forgot to say it has pas,.... also failed on n/s track rod end so will be replacing that and tightening the tie bar end on n/s.
Eagerly await any advice thanks.

It is probably the ball joint that it failed on
Giving excessive movement
It probably meant you could turn the wheel before the wheels start moving

if it is the drop arm ball joint thats got the play in it,they should point it out properly,but i'd say its the steering box that needs adjusting,which you can do by undoing the big nut on top of the steering box,then turn the adjuster in the middle of the nut,then retighten the nut when you have got all the play out,but be careful not to go to far or the steering will either have a tight spot,or just go tight full stop,because of wear on the main shaft in one place,straight ahead possition usually,hope this helps mate.

It could also be the steering ujs,
There easy to change, and examine, just get an assistant to wiggle the steering wheel and check for play.

yeah,funny you should say that,i'd forgot that i'd replace that shaft on mine about 3 months ago, :lol:
