hi all.
a few of us have been holding talks with the powers that be about a new event at santa pod which would be
possibly a two day event allowing use of the drag strip, on site purpose built off road course (non-extreme), use and directions to all the local greenlanes(of which there are many) and hopefully lots of other attractions including demos, kids area etc
any other suggestions would be happily received........
so come on people how many of you would actually be up for such an event????????????
-
Can you get the timers recalibrated for minutes rather than seconds, ;)

I'd be interested in taking the LSE down the strip once or twice, then off roading Blue :?
Truth is I won't have time htis year at all, I wanted to go laning over the holidays and go out on the beer with my coursemates. All I've done is a bit of housework and a lot of coursework, in which I've hardly made a dent.

I foresee a pile of hilifts, recovery gear and spare wheels at the start line as people try to get the weight down a bit!
-
can you do a burnout on mud tyres ;)
-
can you do a burnout on mud tyres ;)
It should be easier as there's less rubber in contact with the ground
-
Am I allowed to come ;-)
Yes but you'd better bring your own trophy
-
Well folks things seem to be progressing ok with the possibility of this event actually happening!
Would be great to see as many of you as possible. We are trying to make it appeal to as many people as possible
by trying to cover what most 4x4ers might be interested in i.e. use of the drag strip (rarity for landy owners i know), off road course and driving the local green lanes, as well as family attractions on site.
If any of you have any ideas about what you would like to see at such an event let us know..............pm either minty, bigwill or tictac.
-

of course you allowed to come neil but you got to promise to behave!

Sounds like a good day out with a difference :D. I'll be making the effort to come with my family. Not too many 'family attractions' though as I get nothing but winging from the kids and it makes it very expensive at £3 each a go for 2 minutes fun.

Lets Ave It, i will be up for that. santa pod is ace. Me and the lads go a few times a year. Hope the weather is good though, i have been there and it has rained all night. At least one thing the fields get in a right muddy state.
-
Are we going to be going in pairs etc, or just single runs?
-

they usually try and match like for like but if that fails its just a case of going against who eva happens to be about.
i have heard that some guys with lowered defenders that have been chipped are interseted in coming!!! could be interesting!!!!!!
i have never seen a defender lowered........... :-. :-.

-
Lowered 90's?????? Ick ... well should be fun. Mine's 400bhp
-
I think this is a great idea and would be loads of fun, I do have an idea OK its out of our territory but I would love to see a funny car or top fuel car roar down there what do you think of the possibility of getting a like minded club on the drag circuit to share the weekend, they do a bit of testing we see some rip roaring speed we then show them how to sling some MUD plus some angles for squeaky bum moments.
OK my tin helmet is on, it was just an idea 8-[
-
im up for it, sounds like a good trip out
although give it a couple of weeks for me to get me timing belt fixed and water pump and power steering then road tax and ill get under 10 mins on the 1/4mile :D
-
We would be uo for that kids eps, how about a mini cart aira for kids to cut there teath on  oh and on the drag strip they might need hours lol
-
It sounds like its going to be a really fun event, and I hope it goes ahead. Any ideas on dates at all, so I can plan things around it. I don't want to miss this :D
-

pairs would be fun:- Lets Ave It
-

-
If I towed my Elise in with the Freelander would I be able to unlease that on the 1/4 mile! Id be interested in the day if im in Glos and not down in Cornwall.
-
Depending on when, Definately sounds interesting
-
hmm. sounds fun, but not in the disco, by the time i got to the start it would all be over
perhaps this is the excuse i need to get a V8 after all :-k
-
Damn I've been after an event like this for ages and now ive sold my stage 2 remapped and intercooled defender Td5 :'(, can I join in with my GTi?
seriously though I will definitely still come along even if i am landyless!
-
Am I allowed to come ;-)
I will give you a run for your money!!! my P38 with nos! lets have it
-
for consideration and a good idea I think...........
It should be that the santapod raceway site is entered via the A6 end of the forty foot byway - any vehicle in order to enter the racing must get in via that route , maybe unaided.
any views?
-
Been is this nice 3.9 supercharged :-o

OK we are still at the walking stage at the moment, for us to have jet power cars going down the track it will start costing more than our budget will allow so let get the numbers going then we can start adding attractions. one defiantly for the future tho i think.
meeting set with Santa pod for next Tuesday 20/01/09 at 10:00hrs so fingers crossed
-
well this does sound rather fun ill be right up for this ? see how well bertie goes now with half the bum missing ??
will also see if my bro is up for it in his bobtailed v8 sure he would lol
-
can you do a burnout on mud tyres ;)
Will all the oil the Series motors drop help with that?? :-k

this idea would probably be great fun BUT muddy vehicles (and i think its pretty safe to say they gona be muddy if they coming in off 40ft) are not allowed on the track........... small amount of mud you might get away with however the chunks of clay likely to drop off after doing 40ft is a no no....... unless of course you would like to volunteer to wash everyones truck after they come in over 40ft before they go down the track!!!!!
-
me me me,mine first i like a clean car!!
-
Ill definatly have to get another v8 that will be a hard ship

dont wash my own , let alone any one elses!
yep 40ft is a tad dirty, but its supposed to be a proper 4x4 event, so thought it to be a way to ensure that true offroaders qualified.
depends on the time of year too.

What is it true offroaders are gonna qualify to do?????
Does that also mean then that if you dont actually go "off-roading" in your 4x4 at present that you are not allowed to come to the event???? or even if you are just curious about 4x4s and own a standard family car you cant come either?????
-
No no , course not
I just meant simply to enter (the racing bit) a vehicle must be capable of driving a byway. my wording is wrong
just thinking that you may end up with other 4x4s ie subarus, Evos to the extreme and that wouldnt be in the spirit of the event.
It was just an idea thats all.
-
davidlandy
sorry didnt look at it like that i think we were talking at cross purposes and what you said just made me realise what it was you were saying originally.  Thank you for making me realise my mistake.
It would be open to all marques of 4x4 except obviously the power cars i.e. like you say suburus, evos etc
Mudpluggers more than welcome.................. :D :D
-
My money's on BTM. But in his XKR, not his Landy.
-
My other halfs subaru has seen more green lanes than an awful lot of "real" 4x4s - would that be allowed a run? It's guarded with silverstone knobblies on etc. Mind its only a sport not a turbo.
But seriously I quite fancy this - relly must get that front mounted intercooler done first though.
-
Sounds like fun, I would be up for it ;)
-
Well folks
The landrovers at pod event is a definate GO!!!!!
Will let you all know the date asap
Hope to see as many of you as possible....
-
  nice one   looking foreward to it
-
Need to do a rerun!! ;) ;) http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg191/dreadnought110/MF4M8742.jpg
-
Sounds like fun, I would be interested
One thing to think about though, If Mud club and other sites are trying to permote sensible use of green lanes, will hundreds of 4x4 trying to use the local lanes over the weekend not give the anti 4x4 lot another reason to close the lanes?
-
I wouldnt think that it would give any more ammo than usual - the lanes around there are very popular and pretty busy anyway when they are open. The council shut them for 6-7 months of the year so when they do open they get even more traffic than usual.
Enjoy the lanes whilst they can still be driven I say.
-
I'm not saying don't use the lanes, but this many 4x4's over 1 weekend could get the lanes closed.
-
bedford council have advised us they will close the lanes if they are in a bad condition anyway. so it will be pot luck if the 40foot is open anyway. however there are loads more local lanes that will be open and that are just as much fun so lets be honest if you just want to rag your motor use our course for that. if you want an enjoyable days laneing be sensible and use your own discretion as to wot is responsible or not!
o.s maps need for the weekend will be. 152,153,165,166. there will more than enough lanes covered by these for everyone to have fun
as soon as we have more details we will post here first.
-
 well done m8 cant wait
-
The calender is waiting for the date. Let's Ave It.
