Also, there is already a thread running on this....

IMHO the rubber ones from WPE (and Paidia) are much better than the fibreglass offerings, means you can't break them!!!

Ian - Is Andy paying you a comission or somthing because just about every post has some reference to his bits 'n' bobs...bit like commercial advertising on the sly, without the sly bit! :p
-
BIG THANKS Ian :D they look better than the plastic ones.
-
Nope.... Just a happy customer.
I'm more than happy to recommend companies that provide good levels of service.
In this case WPE and Paidia 4x4... both of whom have had quantities of money off me (and my brother) lately!!!
Sorry if anyone objects to this, but if I wanted a product I’d rather got to a company that I can trust, than one that is just going to rip me off and sell me c**p!!!
I also happily recommend Allisport when people ask about Intercoolers and tuning... again for very same reasons.
I can also recommend a very good breakers in Chesterfield...
If a company impresses me, because of the quality of the products they sell, and the level of customer service... then I will happily recommend them to others!!!

Good onya Porny, i for one would prefer to use a company that is recommended, rather than just trust the advertising in mags etc.

I agree totally, and can wholly reccomend Padia and Allisport from experience. However it has come across that Porny has fairly close links with W-P-E and does promote Andy's goods/services at every oppertunity, almost to a commercial point.
-
Smo... do I know you?? Or are you just unhappy with something I've done???
I would be lying if I said I hadn’t got to know Andy, my 90" was used to take various measurements when he made alterations to his Weekender kit (which came about after talking to him on another LR forum)... but I DO NOT have any connections with WPE other than being happy with my suspension set up, and I DO NOT get any commission or any other form of payment.
Again, Paidia 4x4... I DO NOT have any connection with Paidia, and again I DO NOT receive any form of financial rewards from them...
(I did know Chris before he jointly started Paidia though - because I had sold him parts in the past)
Am I suddenly not allowed to promote companies, who I for one would fully recommend, when products they sell match exactly the original wanted plea posted by scrapiron when he started this thread????
There are a lot of people who I have got to know in the 4x4 world... both through mud-club (and other forums) and through clubs I'm involved in (including work related ones). Am I suddenly not allowed to associate with them, and not promote their products or services???
If my posting was just random spam, then I would fully understand concerns being raised, but this isn't the case. :!:

Ian........I think your getting your leg pulled a bit here :D :D . Don't think smo is being rude or owt.

Quite, not intending to be rude...but i can if Porny likes. also not pulling his leg.
I was merely asking if you were associated or rewarded by Andy for promotion of his products as looking through the forums, it happens a lot (not been checking, just noticed it over months!). There is nothign wrong is promoting a good company, like i said, i would reccomend Paida and allisport from experience myself, its just that every second post of yours appeared to have promotion of White Peaks products so i (wrongly) thought you might be associated in more ways than just a happy customer....
EDIT: Porny, do you know me...no, do i know you...not really. Am i [!Expletive Deleted!] off with you...no, just thgought you were puishing the happy customer bit a bit too far.

Scrapiron, how wide do you need the spats :?:

May find some useful sizes there :D

Even if he did work for em, whats it matter. If someone puts a post up, and (for example only) paida say 'hey there fella, we do just what you need, contact us' is it such a crime....?
Jeez guys, chill

Not at all, once in a while - but every post of Pornys is promoting WPE's goods, and that just turns a good forum into a heap of free advertising, which is bad.
I dont have a problem, i was merely asking - some people round here are a wee bit touchy and need to chill, i cant say i'm overly bothered to be honest.
-
Ok, let's put a stop to this now.
If anyone has a problem with another members post then use the report button at the top right of the post (the red !)
In this case I see nothing wrong with Ian's answering the question, there have been a few on this subject an as this company can supply the parts it's not surprising that they have been recommended.
Even if Ian did have a business connection to the company, his responses are in line with the guidelines at http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=4868
Where a commercial post is made in response to a genuine member's question, it will be allowed. Where a post is made for the sole purpose of advertising products or services deemed to be commercial in nature, the post may be moved or deleted without notice. These decisions are made at the discretion of the forum moderators and administrators.
Let's get this thread back to the question, does anyone else have recommendations for other companies that could supply extended arches.

The "Bushwacker Flares" are wide.....6".. ", could do with knowing what size Scrapiron is after :?:

Whitepeakengineering have actually gone out of there way to modify their product for me as I need spats 6" wide and cannot afford the Bushwackers, plus the Bushwackers arent flexible enough for my needs.
4x4innovation spats are wide, but nowhere near the size i require.
specialistleisure do wide spats too.

That must have been an exciting afternoon/evenings reading!!!
Checking every one of my 526 posts on this forum....
What an exciting life you must lead.
Actually, I've also quickly checked.. only 5 times have I actually mentioned WPE or Paidia with web links... at that point I bored checking.
Back to the thread then....
Not so relevent for Defenders but ideal for people with Disco's, I found these whilst searching on Google.... http://www.overlandby4x4.com/discoveryarches.html
and http://www.surreyoff-road.com - also sell Bushwaker arches

plus the Bushwackers arent flexible
You can actually roll them up........ they will bend and flex, I honestly cant see how youd want em to be any more flexible.
(unless you mean flexibility as in the way you can use/fit them)

Thanks Rollazuki...... "that will teach me to not go listening to people who have never owned any Bushwackers........" I got led to believe they are actually quite stiff/snappable. Perhaps the person who told me made a genuine mistake  ......perhaps not  . Perhaps i read the message wrong.
Either way, ive now sent off payment to whitepeak for a modified set.
