Hi guys,
Just started my project to restore my landy (Wilma) to her former glory !
The cross member is in a serious state of corrosion and i wondered if any one had some tips for me.
Ie, should i just leave it ? in fear of making it worse if i start grinding the rust. :?
Should i try and replace it ?
We all know the cross members are rust hot spots but i wondered if anyone had any bright ideas for me please.
Or any advice from being in the same situation.

which crossmember is it? youcan buy replacement parts for ront and rear and it is a far better job to do this than patch up one bit now and have to do another bit in a few months time in my opinion.
-
Put a new chassis on it - takes patience and time but worth it in the end, thats what I keep telling myself anyway :D . If you are anywhere near me your more than welcome to cut the crossmembers off my old chassis as its only the front spring hangers that are beyond repair

Im in Blackpool so not that far away from Saddleworth.
Its the rear cross member.
Im not experienced enough to start fitting new chassis just yet
But i believe just fitting a new cross member can be tricky on it's own !! For an ickle beginner like me. :(
Its for a series 2 ! are ur cross members in a good condition then ?
I should just rename myself "damsel in distress" ha ha ha
But hey that's why i joined this site.

Rear cross member is one of the things to try and get done this weekend, fairly straight forward, just have to sort the wiring out first, it passes through the chassis, and can be a pain
-
Rear cross members aren't expensive, I wouldn't bother using a secondhand one personally.

Is fairly local to Blackpool.

Thanks.
Checked out that site and it looks pretty useful.
Do you know any more useful site address's for landy spares ?
-
Well I suppose there's www.paddockspares.com though I tend to use Buckley Brothers above as they're only about 5 mile away.

I'd heard they were moving, I've not been in for a while. Darwen is only 1 more junction down the motorway so no great problem for me.

Not sure, just getting through to the counter can be a trial sometimes.
