I have just acquired 5 of the following.
Leyland L60 6-cylinder (12-piston) liquid-cooled two-stroke multi-fuel producing 750hp at 2100rpm, they have a dirty great big blower on the top that makes them scream, A truly wonderful sound.
The tanks were scraped and the engines crated and stored.
Two we are keeping
Looking for best offers
Also looking for anyone that fancy’s building something outrageous

Ooooh... where to start....
Just out of interest (sadly such a project is beyond my scope at the moment) how physically big are the engines?
-
Aprox: 5 foot long, 4 foot high, 2.5foot wide all ish sixes, there are loads of parts atached that are not engine, the blower is a monster, sadley we only have 4 gearboxes.
The sound is somthing you should hear
Was thinking of trailer mounting one to go around a few shows, i would like to make a giant foghorn but something that moves would be good

Hmm... that'd go in the back of a LWB.
With a fuel tank where the engine normally is... :?

That reminds me.
Did you ever see that episode of 'Coltranes, Planes & Automobiles' (or whatever it was called) wiith the Don Garlits Drag-racing museum with the V8 powered Fog-Horn.
It showed the camera crew in complete aural agony

Just got two of the L60’s running, we start work on 3 and 4 on Wednesday. What a noise they make, absolutely unbelievable. It took very little work to get them to run, cleaning out the injector, connecting oil pipes and power to the starter and away they went. 10 hours on No1 and 32 hours on No2. I have read that while in service they cost the MOD (us the tax payer) £10,000 per mile. We will be mounting two of them side by side on a trailer and taking them to a few shows this year.
