Title: Blinkin Gearbox Lights
Post by: muttleyd on November 12, 2006, 16:22:35
Am having a run of bad luck with Disco TD5 auto.
Its been dripping diesel on the drive, the ignition key won't turn leaving me stranded at work.

And now to cap it all the gearbox 'M' and 'S' lights have started flashin'

The handbook says this is a 'gearbox electrical fault'
Does this mean a definite trip to the garage, or does anyone have some ideas to try before I take it in ?

Thanks in advance

1st of wheres the diesel dripping from? is it just to the left of where the pedals are?

Fuel block

lights flashing M&S is a fault within the box,u need to get them cleared to then diagnos whats actually causing the fault,

mine did the steering lock thing... Landrover assist just sprayed wd40 into and and gave it a tap with a small hammer and all was fixed.  Land rover would not replace it under warrentry as it was "repaired by the service guy".

Thanks guys,

Does look like the valve block for the fuel leak.

The ignition switch I seem to have cured temporarily. Removed the shroud around the column and the problem went away.
Put it back back on and it locked up again. Refitted it again without the round plastic key gaurd and so far has been ok.  This ignition key fault seems to be a common one..

As for the gearbox, sounds like another trip to the garage and plug into the puter. Makes me appreciate the old 90. Hope it ain't going to be too expensive.
