Title: 2.5 transit (which fan)
Post by: Fuddy as muck on June 13, 2006, 17:48:42
The previous owner of my series 3 made a rather crude 2.5 na transit diesel conversion. He used the original radiator but due to the alternator drive belt pulley being closer he bodged a fan by simply cable tying it through the rad  Needless to say the rad blew when bumping round off road. What are my options on the fan? and on the original series fan and cowling does the fan sit proud or flush with the edge of the cowling?

Have you got enough room between the rad and front grill to mount one on that side?

You've found a solution now anyway, but for anyone else that happens to be looking.

I used a fan from a FIAT Uno on my 109" with transit engine mounted on the engine side, though I ran it for 12 months or so without a fan without any problems even at low speeds whilst laning.
