If you use a 4x4 commercial as your private car eg a 110 hard top as opposed to a csw.

Does it have an adverse effect on getting insurance for none business use?

What it is is i'm looking at getting a terrano van(newer and less money than car varient) but my insewerants co said i would need to have a commercial policy and be able to demonstrate business use. Tried direct line and they simply don't cover it.

What to do? :?

I use my 110 Hardtop for SD&P and Class 1 business use - just gone with Adrian Flux, nice peeps to deal with, UK based, decent premium - and the people on the end of the phone know exactly what they are talking about !

I used to get this all the time!

It's more a problem that the commercial variant doesn't show up on the computor. I use the NFU and not had a problem. I've always run with commercial variants.

However, NFU operate from multiple branches and some branches are defiantely better than others. My people are based in Cheshire. I'm sneakily using the net in work, so I haven't got the number to hand - sorry!
