Title: Triangular corners in a glassy world ...
Post by: MuddyDes on September 28, 2006, 18:35:55
Hi All,

On my 1990 LWB Y60 Patrol I have found a black triangular connection in the bottom left hand corner of the front windscreen :-|  I traced the wire and it had been cut. The wire is a coax type cable. Coming away from the corner and laminated into the windscreen is a very faint wire that runs along the bottom of the window and then runs vertically up towards the centre-top of the windscreen.

So, can anyone tell me what it might be for? I can only think that it's a radio aerial, but my Patrol also has a factory aerial on the left front wing … I thought it might be a GPS or Mobile aerial but then in 1990 I don’t think we had either  lol :)

Answers on a postcard !!!

Title: Aerial

Hi Des.

Think I've seen this before on imports, it is a radio aerial, just more directional. Was your "factory" antenna fitted at factory or upon import?

Pretty sure it's radio aerial for asian territories.

Hi Jez,

Yep, the external aerial was factory fitted (the bodywork is contoured to fit the base of the aerial.

I'm increasingly sure it's a radio aerial but it's interesting that you say it might be for Asian reception ...

Thanks for your interest  :D
