Post by: Big G on August 31, 2011, 12:04:12
Now I have BFG MT Tyres and now I need to replace Two. Yes they have been a fantastic tyre but aint they now a price! What would you guys reccomend? I would want to stay with the same size, 265/75/16. Thanks for your advice and if you know a supplier.

I'd vote for a complete change to Special Tracks. Brutal and noisy but they look good, grip well in the wet and drop big golf ball size lumps of clarts on yer roof. What more could you ask for? lol

You could try Cooper stt's. Mine have done lots of miles and still have plenty of tread, not to noisey on the road and about the same as BFG muds off

Yes, I went to STT's this time and they have been a very good alternative to BFG's. Special Tracks are a very different prospect and, TBH, aren't equivalent to BFG MT's.

BFGs every time ok they cost a bit more but they should give give you 3-4 years of use ,  all those Special Tracks type rubber are for the Playground  and building sites , Kumho muds are ok too but dont give the mileage return of a BFG MT, suppose you get what you pay for ,

Mastercraft Courser MT are a good radial alternative, quiet on road and v grippy in the muck...

I seem to remember they took a week or so to arrive, but worth the saving.

Anyone know anything about the GT Radial MTs that tyredrive sell?  The 235/85s look like the sortof bargain I want to replace my Fulda TrampTracs.

Just one thing to note on the cooper stt.
Its being dis-continued, I spoke to Avon-Cooper two weeks ago to get a set of 35 inch cooper stt's and thats what they told me. All sizes.
Great tyre though
