looking into buyin a new toy to play in the mud with but needs a few bits to get it mobile (ish)
classic scutle panel
weld or bolt?
cheap or expensive?
flexi brake pipes fronts i think?
again cheap or expensive?
and a v8 loud pedal cable?
any info or directions to these parts wud be geeatfully accepted

Scuttle panel bolts in two bar steward bolts either side hidden down towards front doors a 10mm ratchet ring needed. Lots being broken so should be able to find one.
Flexi pipes any LR parts supplier should be able to get them, MM4x4 not too far from you.
No more playing with Zukes ?

yeah still mess with the zooks but this new toy has come at the right price and has pedigree so cudnt turn it down
scutle panel bolts shudnt be an issue it dont have doors anymore hehehe
also i no its prob a really stooopid question but its got a x-eng brake and i believe the caliper seal has gone
do they use there own caliper or a landy unit?

Thier own caliper, but pretty damned sure there's no seal on it as it's purely mechanical....

hmmmmmm been told by owner a seal has gone on the caliper
dont no as not got it yet but will keep you informed

Scuttles are different depending on model year, exposed/concealed hinge.

I can't say if the 2-door aans 4-door are the same.
Mid 80s cars had the visible hinge bonnet, later 80s cars had concealed bonnet hinges but exposed door hinges, the scuttle is differnet I because of the bonnet hinges.
Then came the concealed hinge doors, introduced for the US market along with the 14CU engine management (and the 3.9 soon after) and closer door gaps. The doors are longer so the wings and scuttle are shorter, the A post is very different.
So you need one of a similar vintage, if your car is concealed hinge then any scuttle fomr 1989 onward will fit, even the soft-dash I think.

Well it will be exposed hinge doors then but I'm not sue about the bonnet, I think it's concealed hinge, it won't fold flat onto the screen,n it has torsion bars to make it lighter and of course you can't see the hinge when it's closed.
You need one from 1988 or earlier.

RRB finally got round to mooching round the rangey
took pic of the brake valve on the drivers side
it has a pipe leading to the rear and one to the passenger side but nothing going to the driverside so still as confuzzled as before lol

It should go to the same point on the driver's side so mirror what you already have. The other circuit from the master then goes to what's left on each side.

rrb so the 2 outlets that are plumbed in together should have a pipe going to each side? Simon

I can't se clearly enough on the picture but theree should be one pipe from the master cylinder to that valve then one to the back and one to the front brake, the other front brake will either come from the same end of the master cylinder or the valve then the other end of the mater cylinder feeds the second line into each front brake.

hi buddy
me m8 popped over today and we had a brain storm we pretty sure im missing the brake failure valve
from wot we can see/think that i shud have the secondry system into that then one outlet to each of the front calipers and the rear axle
then run a pipe from the primeray system to a T piece to the front calipers
does this sound right to you guys?

Brake failure valves as I understan will "conpare" the brake pressure in both circuits and if there is a differnence (a failure) then an internal shuttle moves accross and operates a switch. the EFi cars (that I'm familair with) didn't have it.
Lots of brake system compnents are model-year specific. TYou'll find the same with the wiring.

well boys think i've finally sussed it with the help of the land rover proper rrc manual :-) so think i no wot i need to do now so next question does anyone see any prob's using braided lines all thou instead of copper lines from the master cylinder ? Simon

The only place flexible hose should be used is on the top of the rear axle and body to caliper on the front.

Massive expense. You might find that flexis swell under pressure, so all your pedal travel will be used up by the hoses.
