Earthing a new Galv Chassis

Folks I need to reconnect the earth strap from the battery box back to a 300tdi 90 Chassis & Gearbox however there seems to be no location on which to bolt it to the chassis alongside the gearbox?

The original chassis had an earthing point to bolt it to, seems this new chassis doesn't.

Any suggestions please?

My original 300tdi 90 chasis did not have an earth point directly on the chasis and neither did my Richards replacement.

The main Neutral bond goes on the gearbox crossmember mounting bolt then loops across to the gearbox.HTH.

Any pics of your progress, only just got mine back on the road in October after a rebuild on Galv chasis.

Having spent a fortune on a galv chassis to prevent corrosion, have you thought about running an earth bus on the chassis rather than using the chassis itself?

Electrcery causes corrosion, worse if it's positive earth.

Thinking about it, the chasis doesnt really need to be the ground as the gearbox/engine is earthed & all the other electrics are grounded to the bodywork.

But i would still ground the chasis as the body panels all bolt to the chasis.

So running a "bus" would only work if you totally isolated/insulated the body from the chasis, which would mean non conductive bolts and non conductive sections which touch the chasis. Also along the corrosion lines, to stop corrosion on a Defender you need to get rid of all the ally; or the steel!!!!!
