Title: HEATER NOT WORKING !!!!!
Post by: SPIKEY on October 22, 2004, 22:09:19
Hi All.
I have an '88 3.5 E.F.I. with little or no heat out of the vents.
The car is fitted with A/C, although the belt is not fitted at the moment.

On full heat setting, with full fan speed the only heat I have is  out of the top vents on the dash.

The foot setting blows vitually no heat at all.

The temp guage never wanders above a quarter, even on a hot day.

The thermostat has been replaced also.

"A portable barbecue from Sainsbury's , lit on a cold frosty morning ! " I hear you say.
No thanks, some practical advice please.

Cheers,

Spikey.

Dunno about that one mate, my 86 is the same :) takes an age to warm the interior up from vents only...

Thanks Paul.
I sat in the car to-day  with the engine running for about an hour and the dash vents were blowing red hot.
The floor vents were not working at all.

I think it may be a cable problem.

Cheers,

SPIKEY.

I'd say so yes, the heater of the RRC is not the greatest, not for a big car anyway.  The rh control should share heat between the screen and your feet, if you're getting a strong blast to the screen chances are the foot vents are closed(so are the face vents).
One thing to check, some models have foot heaters in the back, fed by pipes through the console.  Check these pipes aren't adrift otherwise you get console-heating and cold feet.
