Title: My Nissan is making a noise
Post by: Jabula on July 08, 2011, 07:57:11
Hi

My Nissan Terrano is making a horrible noise when it is on full steering lock, the garage cant find anything wrong.  Has any one else come across this this problem?  (Sounds like metal against metal)

I dont know much about Terrano's but it sounds like a CV joint, (constant velocity)

Thats where I'd be looking on a Discovery but I'm not sure if they have the same drive system on the Nissan's.

Hope this helps

Slipping power steering belt, fluid low in PAS reservoir, knackered PAS pump. That's if it does it when it's stationary.

I'd also change garage.

Its nothing to worry about; it's just the lock stops on the suspension&steering rubbing (metal on metal) together. Either grease them or just don't wind it right round to full lock :-)

Thanks for the info, I had taken it to 3 garages which couldn't find anything
