Check the brake pads on the front

Just looked at the handbook. Those lights indicate a fault with the ABS system which (I think) also has a helping hand with the HDC
-
yes i think they are all conected as they all operate the braking system
i was thinking of some kind of sensor
and thinking im not the first with this problem
-
now found out that wires that connect to gear lever that switch
decent control on are broken out of plug
connected back to plug but lights still on
the plot thickens
-
There is another thread on here somewhere (in Freelander) about ABS sensors and lights etc... Could be worth a search
-
Check the wires on your HDC switch at the gearstick they have a tendancy of breaking, this can cause this problem,if not check the speed sensors at each wheel as this will also cause the problem
-
yes i found the broken wires from the hd switch
reconnected but still the light s are on
not sure if it needs resetting since reconecting wires ?
-
The lights will need resetting after a fault is found because they latch up and record the fault.
Mrs wizard has the same problem with her XEDi, i took it up to HBH Land Rover where they diagnosed a sticky shuttle valve in the abs unit.
A replacement is £1500 so the mrs will have to live with the "triplets" for a while.
I have had the lights reset a few times, sometimes they come back on a few weeks later sometimes its a few months.

is the resetting of the light a diy job or main dealer stuff
thanks

DOnt forget to make sure that all the abs rings are clean on each wheel, especially if you have been off road. Also you could make sure the sensor is plugged in on each wheel. I think, however that the reset aftee the faut you already found sounds more likley based on the experiance of others
-
only just got the car so dont know the history
but looks very clean underneath
no off roading
fixed the broken wires on hd switch so want to try and reset
the abs unit to see if the lights go out now
anyone know how to do it ?
it cant be that hard surely?
thanks

Its not a diy job. main stealer or independent.
