The bottom pully on my 2.8td Has come off.How do I put it back on and how can I tighten it so that it can,t come off again.
Any advice appreciated
Thanks Paul

If it's the one I thing it is, grind a mm or two off the bolt and use locktight or similar... the bolts have a habit of being a bit long and using the end of the bolt rather than the head to keep them tight.

Thanks,But its not the complete pully that has come off.Its just the outer ring which appears to be held on by pressure and a rubber type ring on the inside.

Try going here:
http://www.pocuk.com/phpBB2/search.php
put in Bottom Pully and select the All Words option.
Loads of info on it but always seems to be the bolt.
Might be worth ringing http://www.milners.co.uk as well.

Thankyou evil ed.Looks like I need a new pully then.

if the pulleys come appart then you do need a new one
unfortunatly it is a very expensive part, you may need to try a few scrapy's

if its anything like the 2.5 pulley, then its quite easy
just put 2 longish m8 bolts through the pulley where the second ring bolts on, and just keep winding each one gently to bottom out the bolts onto the,
ahh i wuold have said bottom cam belt pulley but as yours is chain drive i'm not sure never stipped a 2.8
mmm
not sure then, sorry

Good luck mate, hope it goes okay.
Try and make sure you use a 6point socket on the bolt rather than a 12 or 18 as it is usually very tight and you'll round the bolt with multipoint sockets.
Don't forget to shorten the new bolt too and put some threadlock on there.
You might want to do a before and after shot of your knuckes too..... Just so you remember what they used to look like :)

Cheers evil ed.Need to get a socket to fit first. none of the ones i have that fit are strong enough.Knuckles they are only cosmetic.
