Hi,
Anyone got any knowledge of a company called '1stsuzuki'
They are advertising on E Bay claiming to sell brand new soft top Jimnys for around £7500.00.
Unfortunatley I am unable to get any kind of address for them so obviously I am a little suspicious.
Any comments/replies would be appreciated..........

I bought a new soft top jimny for £7750 last year, the ones theyre selling are old stock, the new jimnys have different dash layout and VVT engine - very nice. If you ring round the dealers you may find someome selling old stock same as mine, or maybe a decent deal on a VVT engined one. When i went to the main dealers i was looking at one that had just been sold, someone paid £10500 for it, mine came in 2 weeks later exactly the same, £7750, i just rang round the dealers and got a best price of £7695 in North Yorkshire, and local dealer came down to £7750 so went there.

Thanks for that but pardon my ignorance...what is the WT engine and how does it differ from the older ones...sorry to be a pain...
-
V V T engine, variable valve timing! more revs, more power, more bits to go wrong.....
Sorry, that was a bit cruel, its just a simple change to cam timing to make em docile around town, but a bit peppier when you get out on the open road, makes for better fuel economy too!

you can get vvt soft top for 82oo or oil type not vvt 7500 look on add mart lots around some o5 plates around not oil type old type i ment

Hi,
I purchased a soft top jimny from 1st Suzuki back in September. I first heard of them via ebay. I phoned them as I really wanted a silver soft top. After a bit of bargaining, I paid £7600. They are Britains longest running Suzuki dealer. The dealers name is Colin Appleyard. The web addres is www.colinappleyard.co.uk. I beleive they have something like 5 dealerships in the north of england. They will deliver but I chose to collect from their dealership in Ashton Under Lyne. They were extremely friendly and provided an excellent service. I am really happy with my 4x4 and would definitely buy from them again.

Done any mods to it yet then? mine lasted 3 days before i fitted the first lift kit !
-
No mods yet. I probably won't be offroading but I have always wanted a suzuki soft top so am really looking to next summer when I can finally take the roof off and take the surfboard to the beach.

put some grease on the press studs on the soft top because they rust and break - suzuki take a very long time to get one under warranty! Heres some pics of my silver soft top on www.laneriders.com

and if you do contact them at Ashton, ask for Ronnie. Tel him Rob from the driving school asked you to cal and he might cut you a good deal :) Let me know if you get one from him tho, he will then owe me a favour ;)

Thanks for the advice Gary, I have heard about the rust problem. Would you recommend any particular type of grease. Also, will the rust bubble through the paint on the outside of the press stud or can I simply coat the underside?
-
just coat the underside , the two parts that mate together. ive used some general purpose Castrol grease, no too thick, vaseling would probably be fine .
