Title: Series 2a FFR 24v
Post by: Bradders on June 04, 2007, 15:37:23
Guys....needs some advise please.
I have been offered a series 2a FFr 24v for £400.

I think it looks the dogs.....plus its tax exempt.

The guy reckons it starts drives and stops okay (needs jump starting as batteries are dead)
No V5 (its been lost).

Its gonna cost me £130 to get it collected and i am not going to be able to veiw it first, as i cant get up there in time.....(he is taking it to a show to sell on Saturday).

Am I being stupid....or could this be a bargain?

Is it a genuine ex-mil vehicle? Just its on a old H reg, which fits with series 2a first time round, IIRC, and a vehicle of this age i thought would have been cast and registered on a Q?

Thats been well messed with, what was the chassis like?

Theres a lot of work involved in getting that in decent order, prolly just as well you've talked yourself out of it, unless you wanted a project?.......

I asked if it had any ticket eft on it (as i was considering catching the train up there and driving back)...he went into a tirade of " I have had too many W*nkers ringing me up, good mind to put the phone down...its £400 for Christs sake, fed up with W*nkers etc etc".
That in itself kinda made my mind up.
Anyway...if anyone else is interested its on milweb

I had a look at this the day it went on milweb, the bloke assured me it had no rust on the chassis and only a small piece on one foot well......, so....

I went for a drive for an hour and a bit to be met with a rover that had masses of bits fiddled, changed with (despite being described as standard), a bulkhead that was absolultey full of filler, and a chassis that crumbled into dust every time I got closer enough to breath on it!!!! Even the engine ran like a bag of bolts.

If the vendor can misdiscribe it that much then I have no simpathy for him. He was nearly as rude when met face to face. The rover is worth scrap value and absolutley no more as there is nothing that can be reused on it!!!

Rant over!!
