would anyone if a 200tdi engine from a disco would go straight into a 1992 petrol range rover, and if it will are any pitfalls
thanks

It goes straight in but you need the gearbox as well to make it easy, LR did a conversion kit of all the bits, engine, gearbox, radiator and intercooler when the tdi first came out. My daughter has one (didirangerover on here)which was converted, has been excellent with really good fuel consumption around 30 - 35 even better on veg oil as well !!
Only weldy bit is putting the engine mounts on the chassis but not that difficult. best bet is to get a rusty Disco and transplant the lot

thanks for that, i'm just dismantaling a 'rusty old disco', so i'll keep the engine and box ready to transplant.
and if its okay jim, i wouldn't mind a look at yours sometime.

I've a mate who has on as well, though I'm pretty sure it went into a Turbo Deisel car.
There are some differences but if you have the car then it'll get there in the end ;)
Things like the fuel pump are different IIRC and the clutch pipe. The rad will go in place of the V8 one though, I can't remember if the engines mounts are the same on the 200 but I know the 300 TDi had different ones to the V8.
For some reason I remeber my spar propshaft wouldn't fit a 300TDi either :?
