Has anyone purchased a stainless steel exhaust, from Double S Exhausts only to find it rusts away
I brought mine in 2001 from Paddocks for my Series 3 and now it has fallen apart i have contacted Double s exhausts who did not seem very bothered and told me to contact paddocks where i originally brought exhaust, im yet to hear back from Paddocks, so in the meantime my girlfriend called Double S and ended up have a long shirty conversation with some stressed man on other end, who finally admitted quote 'in the past years we have had problems with the flange connectors as these were made of a low grade steel' :?
So the question is, has your Double S Exhaust fell apart if so who fixed it

Your contract is with Paddocks, who should replace then take it up with the supplier.

Do you not have a "lifetime guarantee" for the duration of owning the vehicle?
-
Oh dear, so the stainless-steel is more like stainless & steel, as in the bit you can see is shiney and the rest is tat.
Hmm, let me know how you get on as I'm looking at a stainless system for the TDi. You may find Paddocks no longer supply double S :-k

Yes, lifetime guarantee for as long as the Land Rover is in my name on the log book?!

I will update on this if I get any luck! :?

Well Paddocks called today and said they will send a courier to collect the exhaust, they will then send it on to Double S who will fix it or replace it FOC
I wonder how long Double S will take to fix it :-k Place your bets now

Excellent news, glad to hear they take the warranty seriously.

UPDATE!
Double S Exhaust has sent my origanal exhaust back fixed  They ground off the old welds and welded new flanges on
So if your Double S has rusted, send it back :D

Or a spare car. 3 months is a bit too much, it's bareable in a classic but still pretty poor, if it were my main car I'd be waving a hire bill at them.

I have got a 3 year old Double S exhaust on my 90 Defender that has (I have just discovered) completely rotted away on the centre section just before the flange. I'm ringing Double S tomorrow - I'll let you know how I get on............

Welcome to the forum :D
I thought s/s should not rust and rot away :-k It will be intresting to hear what Double s have to say about your exhaust...

I'm getting worried now - I've had a Double S one on mine for a few years and it's showing no signs of falling apart. The tail pipe is a bit manky but I'd probably have got through two normal ones by now.
If it does ever disintegrate I'll build a side exit one, after seeing someone bend the back box on their Disco while trying to go up something that was just a little too sharp an angle. They were ok until they had to reverse...
