I have wheel spacers on my series 2 a not a problem. I used to have modulars with large MT's, on full lock they were very close and sometime rubbed, but for the life of me i can't remember what they were.

I used spacers and 265/75 x 16 on my series. No problems and no rubbing although it was ex MOD with extended shackles.

If you get the correct offset on your wheels you will get a 265/75 on without rubbing

The biggest you can really get in terms of height are 900R16 but you will need extended spring hangers and a shave off the front wheel arch. The metric equivelent 255/100 are just a bit too big IIRC.
Any bigger than these and you have to start hacking the bodywork or the tyres will do it for you.

9.00x16 or 255/100R16 is the biggest you can fit, but front wings will need trimming, as will the bottom of the front bumper, 1 ton shackles and a bit out of the inside of the rear panel strengtheners. Tyres are fitted on 6.5j 'snatch' tubeless rims
