hi first off,
q1 why would i not have illumination to my clock and heater controls, no fuses are blown and other things on the alleged same circuit work like side lights?
q2 would it be possible to unplug the brain for the central locking/alarm so as to be able to get in on the key without a faf, and befor anyone thinks of nicking it it wears one of them full wheel steering locks.

Answer to Q1, have you looked at the wiring plugs on the back of the panels? If not check them, and check the tiny bulbs.

A 1, blown bulbs behind the heater controls
A 2, the alarm module is under the glove box, remove black panel and undo M8 bolt then lower that section down and unlpug the unit
then remove the steering column cowling and youll see the soldered joints for each key position and the when the voltage applied to them youll need a multimeter or test light
i ran a wire from the starter motor solenoid to the starter relay thats behind the side panel in the drivers footwell, then rewired the relay to the ignition
then run another wire to the fuel solenoid and back to the ignition, but leave the origianl in place
and heypresto it starts and runs with no interferance the alarm or immobiliser

Ringf the guys at remote key for advice ;)

I just ran a wire from battery-new switch in the cab- stop solonoid. as good as an imobiliser as nobody knows which switch it is and saves faffing with the current alarm system!
