Hi folks,
Having some gearbox issues with the 90 (again). 300Tdi + R380 gearbox and associated transfer box. Last night as I tried to reverse onto the drive (up kerb and slight slope) the gearbox jammed. Couldn't get it out of gear. Lifting the clutch pedal stalled it, plus there was the usual smell of burning clutch :( Then, it started moving again, kangarooing. Then that stopped and it all appeared to be fine. I haven't checked it yet to see if it's all ok. I'd driven it about 10 or so miles before this happened (slowly in the snow) and everything was nice and warmed up..
Any ideas what it might be? It had a new clutch last year so I'm hoping that is still ok. Is it a one off issue related to the cold? Am I facing yet another expensive repair bill?
Cheers,
Lee

Just spoken to my local Landy expert and he said that there are sometimes issues with the gearbox getting stuck in 1st and reverse, especially in the cold. Anyone had this before?

Hand brake stuck on?

break freeze?? my freelander does the same when its been wet, i think its build up in the breaks gets wet then either freezes or dries in warmer weather and causes them to stick on just need clearing out regularly. i expect the trans brake is full off sh*t.

Just wondering, did you drive it in diff lock?

Try using Difflock oils.

Couldn't get the gearbox to do anything, no diff at all :( I spoke to the garage that does the servicing and repairs and he said that in cold weather there can be issues with the gear selectors freezing and the gearbox gets caught in two gears simultaneously. It did free it self, but not before I'd become slightly concerned at blocking half the road :)
