more sad news im afraid
-
Yeah .. just picked it up on the Sky site ... terrible news :( Guessing at a 110.
-
Tragic, but on the bits I've heard it seemed the fact it was a Land Rover had no relevance to the crash, which begs the question, why is it being reported as a Land Rover crash on national news? There are fatal non-4x4 crashes every day of the week, but I don't hear about a child being killed in a Vectra accident.
Or is there a link? I can't read the news article from here.

Here you go

the yahoo article keeps repeating the childs death which is a shame

Exactly :( Its like with everything thou, apparently if you own a 4x4 you are the scum of the earth, what with our fuel consumption, carbon footprint, & safety issues regarding pedestrians...
Its a real shame that this has happened, and that a child has lost their life, but I don't see any relevance of keep reporting that it was a land rover :?
-
Have just viewed another story about 5 people being killed in a crash on the M4... strangely thou, those people were just in 'cars' .... I'm guessing there were no yellow land rovers involved

Sounds like they pulled (or forced) over to allow minibus to pass. A non land rover driver would probably have been less courteous.
Appears that it is a D3: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lincolnshire/6998001.stm
My respects to the family

My thought's go out to him and his family.
Ive met him a few time's at offroad day's really is a sad time

i didnt post a pic of the motor as it looked modded ,so could have been a member ,the local tv news shows a close up of the yellow 110 ,with large land rover stickers on the doors  it seems to be a very costly weekend all round with all the deaths
-
the persons involved in this tragedy are regulars on the Landrovers owners forum and very well known at shows ect.
Gresh and Sarah our thoughts are with you
-
Didn't realise it was them :( I remember them from LRO :(
-
Yes the owner and father is 'gresh' a extremly nice man who was head mod on lro before setting up another forum http://www.lrboards.com the vehicle is a modded 110 csw with 35"tyres and >2" lift so you get an idea of the depth :(
gresh, sara and family are in our prayers tonite
-
My sympathies and thoughts are with all concerned...

-
More bad news i'm afraid. Another of Gresh's children has passed away
our thoughts are with them

Words can never express the feeling this leaves deep down within anyone concerned.
To even be able to function after such an incident is it's self unbelievable never mind trying to come to terms with such a tragic loss. To affect children so young seems a cruel act if ever there were a God it would cause even the most devoute to question their faith. Yet it is only their faith in each other now that will pull them through the dark and seemingly empty days that to follow. The hollowness left behind, the absence of chuckles, arguments and even trashing of the house that is all part of a young growing family. The family will need to draw strength from each other, from friends and from remembering the good times. No one but no one can ever take the memories. My thoughts also go out to all those who helped who will for a long time question what if anything they could have done differently to help, be they passing motorists who I understand waded in , the emergency service or the nurses and Doctors. No amount of experience or exposure to incidents like these can take away the feeling of helplessness and frustration the situation creates.
God bless them all!
-
I can't possibly imagine how they are feeling, but my thoughts are with them tonight, I hope they can stay strong for their other children, who need them so much right now...
I don't understand why these things have to happen :(
-
Heartfelt condolences from the Hicks family.

I wonder if the fact the vehicle was a Land Rover was mentioned in the news article to try and explain why there were nine people in it. A Landy can carry 9 people safely and legally, whereas a 'car' (usually seating 5) can't.
My thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the family at this dreadfully sad time.
-
Ok.... I attended this RTA yesterday and it was the worst incident I have been to, it was one of those accidents when you go home and hug your kids, which is what I did.
Please do not ask me , I will not go into the details of what happened as it is still being investigated.
My thoughts are with the family and family friends.
I am also totally disgusted with the members of the public who came to watch things from the Tattershall bridge, some brought kids along and particularly the guy in a green fleece who tried to make a joke about it to me, my colleague had to hold me back! These incidents are a family tragedy not a family day out!

Some people just have no sense at all
My thoughts are with you and all of the other people who helped them, who had to witness such a tragic accident. I do not think, how ever much I would have wanted to help, I would have been strong enough, emotionally to help, well done to you for putting your own life at risk to help others!

My thoughts and sincere condolences to the family

thinking of them all also

Yes, old people dying I accepted, people doing stupid things and dying I could live with, people taken too early by cancer or by the stupid or deliberate actions of others I felt sad about, but dead kids always used to hit me, worst was three we found in an old chest freezer with a lockable door who had been missing a couple of hours while playing hide and seek.
I always used to have trouble sleeping after kids.
The other one is dealing with the sudden death of a serving or ex-member of staff or their spouse/close family. I broke down outside A&E after one of those while restocking the ambulance.
We're only human.
-
Oh, Jeez, Boggart
You have my sympathies. A difficult job made harder by thoughtless action :(
Cheers

:)
There has been a mention of a collection on LR Boards.
At the moment all new membership has been suspended due to the fact of the press trying to join and elicit information from members.
Which is what we will not put up with which has forced the Admin to take the action they have done.
It is a very sad time indeed.

My 'normal' site that I go on, a girly one for pregnant women and babies, one of my closest friends on their, her baby died after only 6 days, we did a collection and donated it to Alder Hey Childrens hospital where he was for his short life, she really did appreciate it, even thou it was only something small, which obviously couldn't bring back her son, but just to know we were all thinking about her...
If there is going to be a collection, me and Ste (hairyasswelder) would love to contribute...
-
thinking about the family, couldn't get it out my mind last night, couldn't sleep, please pass on any details re collections etc,

A statement by Gresh taken from the Landrover boards:
I have to thank everyone who has been by our sides through this ongoing ordeal. Thanks also to everyone who have sent messages and posted on the various forums. I do not have the strength at the moment to trawl the other forums, please spread my thanks.
All the support is truly overwelming, and we are touched.
Now, to set the story straight, and I know I don't need to with you, but I want my friends (you lot) to know the truth first hand.
I was not overtaking the transit van, my children were all strapped in securely, which ultimately made it hard to get them out and contributed to the deaths of both Keavy and Willow. Still, despite this, I firmly believe kids should be strapped in, if we hadn't hit cold water, the outcome may have been very different.
The Transit van in question did not yield, his side of the road had a three foot edge, mine had a six or seen inch edge. My rear tyre felt like it slipped off the bank, sliding me sideways. The 110 shot across the road and then rolled down the bank, submerging it a foot or two under the water. And the rest is history.
Now for the sad part, we have to face the very real prospect that the life support will be turned off on Angel and Thor later middayish. This isn't guess work, we have been taking to every surgeon in Leicester.
Your support and help is a source of strength for us, in 48hrs we have gone from a happy family of eight children, to a broke family with four children, I can not epress how we feel, and I really hope you NEVER find out.
i will endeavour to post something in the next couple of days.
i an proud to count you all as my friends.
Thank you
Nigel, Sara, Star, Liam, Amber and Ceann.
A sad sad day having kids myself its hard to read the comments and statements on this accident my heart saddens to hear this tragedy
-
That brings the world into stunning clarity.
As the sun rises, so it also sets.
We try and take heart because tomorrow, the sun will rise again.
For many however, it won't be a bright day.
My heart goes out to Gresh and his family.
Peace
Eeyore

I have read this post at work - nearly in tears - we are praying for you all, we had both our children on life support but fortunately for us they are still with us.
I can only guess at the pain that is being suffered at the moment
We are thinking of you at this time
Ela
-
That is gut wrenching. We don't have kids and thereore can't even begin to understand the pain but it must be so awfull.
-
This is from the Times yesterday
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2477741.ece
Thoughts with them .. can't imagine what this be like for them.
-
This is all very sad. I don't know the family but the shared interest seems to make it feel like a family thing and reading the posts makes me feel very sad indeed.
And then I click back to the list of new posts since my last visit to find that the general chatter goes on about seemingly trivial things by comparison. As a mark of our respect, is there any way we can agree a form of 'minutes silence' on the forum at an opportune time, with some sort of freeze on posts for an agreed timeframe - even an hour?
-
Words fail me at a time like this. Four children...............

its gut wrenching.

Mine and my families thoughts go out to you and your family.
I dont have any words to express my deepest sympathies.
Ste (Drift) and Family.
-
In tears reading this, we have only had only lil boy 6 months, but to think of life without him is unbearable, its devestating, words cannot express how sorry we all are :(
-
just thinking of what would happen if something happened to my little girl makes me feel very sad and well up, I cannot know what thoughts are in your head, how sad you must feel and i hope i never do, this must an excrusiation time for you, if there is anything that any of us can do to help, then feel free to ask, my deepest sympathies are with your and your family.

We have children and drove past that same spot a few weeks back, it makes me shudder to think what happened to that poor family.
You all will be in our prayers tonight.
The Morris Family
-
If anyone close to the family from the forum or reading this post and members of the forum could set up a Just giving account for the family to assist with this tragedy then I for one would be more than willing to chip in.
Can anyone help?
I also struddled to get alseep last night, we have kids of similar ages and one on the way. We also have a 110 and I could well imagine having driven those roads in May how the accident could have so easily occured and how impossible the situation must have been. We don't know the family but are involved in a Landrover community from across the UK that regularly meet .. this just feels like a wider part of that community.
It's awful awful awful.
-
Lee I think something is being implemented on the LR boards and when anyone hears how to donate I am sure a link will be forthcoming :(
-
I'm on shift tonight, if I get time I'll pop up and put some flowes down from the "Mud Club" if its ok with the mods?
-
Please do.
It's small gesture, but I'm sure all here would agree with your sentiments and feelings.
Thanks
Eeyore
-
A justgiving account will be started but not yet,we would like a bit of time for the family to come to terms first maybe in a day or two.
Gresh is sat here next to me and has read all your thoughts and sends his and Sarah's thanks.
-
I know Gresh to say Hello to from numerous off road events over the years. In fact, he was next to us (Pro Trax) at Billing this year.
Been very distressed to learn of what has happened and deepest sympathies and condolences to the family.
Guy
-
Like many on the forum I've never had the chance to meet Gresh or any of his family - I don't know them and they don't know me
But I would echo what's already been said about this tragedy - Nobody can possibly understand what they must be going through

I have placed a bunch of flowers at the road side from us all at the Mud Club with a note giving our best wishes and thoughts at this difficult time.
Please don't send me any money, I'm happy to cover this, I would prefer donations are given to Gresh, Sarah and the children when an account is opened at an appropriate time.

There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said already except to join the others and extend our deepest sympathy and say that you're in our thoughts.

i dont post on here very much but this has moved me and my wife as others have said words cannot be enough to say how horrible it must be to go through this
and as someone else said it puts your problems to be trivial my wife at the moment is battling cancer but compared to what they are and will go through makes it seem as if she just has a cold
there is nothing we or anyone can say to ease their grief
all our thoughts and prayers are with them

Hello everybody.
Gresh and Sara and the children are close friends, and I would like to thank you all for all the messages of support and offers of help people are sending. This is an utterly devastating time for the whole family, and I don't just mean the ones related by blood and marriage. Nige said yesterday, that he never realised how much, so many people cared, and it is that caring that is helping to carry them through at the moment. As Pete said, there will be a 'just giving' site set up in due course.
Nigel has made a very moving tribute to Keavy, Thor, Angel and Willow here (http://www.lincs.police.uk/index.asp?locID=44&docID=1308)

My thoughts and very sincere condolences to the family

Our condolences go out to Gresh and Sara. I know no words can really make a difference to such a dreadfull experience, but know you are all in our thoughts.
-
As I sit here reading all this I can hardly take in what has happened. This is truely awful, I can't find the words to say how saddening it is  .
Like so many others my thoughts and prayers are with the family tonight and though I can't claim to know them I feel terrible that there is nothing that can be done after the event, much as we all wish to help.
Boggert, I know your job sucks at times like this, ten times over if you know the people involved, but take some solice in the fact that you were there to make a difference, however small, and help those that survived. I couldn't do your job, you have my admiration.
But my thoughts and prayers are with Gresh and Sarah. I am so, so sorry for you.
