Hi all,
What is wrong with the V6 Freelander? How good is the engine?

Nothing :)

very good :)

oil pumps are the weak spot mate, and head gaskets, also mis-torquing of cam gears

had a v6 es for 6 months now apart from a front electric window cable snapping no probs with it its a great motor bit more speed off the lights than the diesel bit thirsty but I only do about 10-12k a year anyway.
most people will go for the diesel because of the fuel consumption hence v6 prices are very reasonable (wont get very high milers either cos no one can afford to run them that far  )

Much better than a 1.8 petrol, but the Td4 is the best all round engine in the Freelander

Personally best LR ive ever owned or driven for all round ability...wouldnt swop it but syill would like a defender for when the going gets really hairy
