Got an email today saying that all the military 1

What is CAST?
why won't they go behind a LR?
Are these the big square ones we sometimes see behind the 4x4 Bedford (MK?)
-
I think I am right in saying they are the Arrows ones, they run on 850/16 tyres. Nice and big.
-
They are two wide for a land iirc ? What is cast since I'm looking for one for the mog
-
cast is a military expression for getting rid of something that is no longer of use.
I believe it is a shortend version of the expression cast off.
I believe these trailers would suit your Mog perfectly.
-
Yep, way too wide for a Land Rover, could suit a Unimog quite well though :-k
Yes, they are the ones you'll see behind Bedfords :D
CAST basically means it is no longer of use to the Military. It can either be an individual vehicle due to damage from an accident etc, or en masse when a replacement is available. In this instance it's because the new MAN SV vehicle is taking over from the Bedford and the SV is being issued with a larger 3t trailer :D

Grand, time to keep an eye on withams then ;)

whilst on ulan eagle 98 (big exercise in poland) i saw one of these being towed behind a landrover...it had somehow been converted to run on landrover wheels....thatd make a handy trailer espeacally as the trailer width law has just been changed

I would doubt that, it'd mean changing axles, "A" frame, tow jaw (or hitch), plus there's the legal side of it
-
how wide are thay? iv a feeling i came across one in a farm sale and very nerly bought it but it was about 7ft wide looked more lol a landy would be fine with one upto 6ft 6" thats what my cattle trailer is if cheap may be handy for farm use
-
there just under 8 foot wide and 12 foot long

legal side? i can think of hundreds of illegal mods on green fleet vehcles..rangng from rados and bvs all the way up to sleeping or recovery systems..it was allways a case of modding the vehicles to suit wherever you were going next. someone even suggested the back of a 434 was supposed to contain a spare pack not bunk beds, heaters and more food than the local naafi could supply! any workshop could easily mod a 1/34t in anyway necessary
-
This is the new MAN SV tlr a bit bigger than the landrover

Yes they could, but they are ILLEGAL Mods? Untested, untrialled etc, anything "can" be done!
Any ASM worth his salt wouldn't sanction a 1&3/4 conversion !!
-
I'd imagine they could be towed by a LR but they might be a big big, a bit tall and a bit OTT.
However, does this mean a good supply of cheap 750/16 8 ply trailer tyres [-o<
-
Damn it damn it damn it !!!
My drive is 235 wide between the gate posts.
The arrows trailers are 240 !!!
F*^^*^&%*

well only one thing to do make the gateway bigger
