Title: Nato Hitch Play
Post by: Mark_Solesbury on June 21, 2008, 23:46:15
Hiya

The Nato hitch on my 90 has a bit of play in it between the jaw and the backplate.

Its got grease in it, but when the sankey is on the back i can hear it knocking.

Fixable, or is this by design :)

Hi

I have a 90 with a nato hitch and like you pull a sankey with it. My hitch has a small amount of play in it too but it was like that when i fitted it about five years ago and has never got any worse. During that time its pulled the trailer a lot. Often fully loaded and just ever so ocasionally a tadge overloaded . So personally I wouldnt worry about it to much.

I think theres bound to be some movement as the hitch is designed to rotate.

Hope this helps a bit at least.

Cheers

Dave

Its gonna have a bit - but they dont normaly knock.

They are completely 'servicable' in that you can get re-build kits from Dixon Bate to overhaul them - we dont bother and just chuck them in the bin - must have scrapped hundreds over the last 20 odd years!

Ill ram some more grease in it till it runs out clean.
