Title: I must be mad.
Post by: john656 on July 29, 2012, 19:52:35
Hi all,
After moving to a 57 volvo v70 t5 from my off road prepped 300 tdi, I'm bored of it and with my tail between my legs I will be returning to the green oval in the form of a TD5. My old disco was somewhat troubled (more than the average) by the seems of things, I've not learnt my lesson so will be returning.

What are the main issues with the TD5 discos??
Injector looming leaking
Crank pully
Air bags leaking
Chassis corrosion
Sun roofs
Injector seals / heads - filling up the sump with diesel
FPR
3 amber lights
anything else that I've not come across??
Pile it all on as it will all be of use when it goes wrong.

Regards

John

Fuel pressure regulator
If the SLS compressor goes make sure that the wiring to the height sensors are intact.
Check the disk on the front of the engine isn't leaking oil. It causes premature failure of the alternator.
starter motors are a pain to change. Repair kit is available off ebay for around a tenner.

Feel free to message me about TD5 ownership

Cheers
John

Avoid active cornering enhancement as the pipes rot and are expensive and difficult to fix.
