01 check for leaking front hub seal can be costly if you cant do it yourself
02 ask when it last had a cam belt change
03 check condition of front springs ( if flat or inverted it may need new springs)
04 check propshaft for play in UJ's
05 check for judder when pulling away in 1st
06 check 4wd and low ratio engages ok
07 check operation of FWH
08 check heater works on lower settings
09 general condition of truck - does it look used and abused
10 check service history and documentation
11 check for rust on door and tailgate bottoms
12 check for rust on chassis particularly rear cross members
13 check for pulling under braking or for judder due to warped disks
13 check bottom four corners of cab for rust - water seems to collect there
14 check inside top of rear wheel arches for rust
15 check exhaust gas colour once warm - black = diesel, blue = oil, white = steam
16 check radio - if tuned to Radio 4 then walk away and don't look back
the hilux is quite good in standard form, add some tyres, and remove the towbar, there shouldnt be much that will upset you (although deep clay should be avoided... the one and only time i needed a tug)
the only real restriction is length, and the leaf springs are firm, rear end is light, a little too light on snow and ice.
check insurance quotes first, i`m looking to get one at the moment, and found my present insurer quoting me £200 MORE than when i had one 2 years ago!

Cheers fella :D

You can change the resistor pack for the heater fan.
There are 2 types though so take yours out and take it with you to the dealers.
I did mine easy enough.
Just take the glovebox out and the heater fan is right there.

I'll have a look at mine in the morning. Cheers mate ;)
