Anybody know if the Freelander has a built in towbar plug ( socket behind light cluster ) for simple plug in electrics..

Yes.
Kit available from various places, not just main dealer.

It's located in the right rear, behind the trim. There will be a blanking grommet in the floor in the same area.

 Is that just for lighting or is there one for the auxillery power aswell

Err.... don't know  :oops: I only installed a lighting one. Can't remember if there were any other plugs in there.

Towsure only list a lights wiring kit.

Having just this week done mine, I can confirm that the plug is for LIGHTING ONLY.

I am going to buy one of the voltage sensitive relays from Towsure to do the battery and fridge as that only needs one wire from the battery through the car.
