Title: Freelander tires
Post by: DarrenR1100 on February 20, 2008, 21:21:04
can any one recommend the best value tires for 90% road use and will last better than the Wranglers on the front of my 1999 Xi  5 door. We very rarely venture off road so a good road tire is what we would like
Thanks in advance
Darren

Hi Darren
I had Wranglers on my Freeby when I bought it, terrible. Fitted General Grabber ATs 195/80/15's lasted about 10K and were terrible too. Did a bit of research on tinter web and this forum and came up with an increase in width with a reduction in aspect ratio to keep the same circumferance ish giving me 215/75/15's.  I've had the BFG AT's on virtually a year, done 21500 miles on them and they are about 1/3rd worn so for a 94 quid tyre that should see 60k miles pretty good value for money, and the ride and drive is better by far.

By the way I do virtually no off road in the Freeby, thats what my 110 is for.
