The 12N electrics plug into a socket behind, I think, the passenger side rear lights.
The LR Kit is not expensive and works out cheaper than trying to do it yourself.
The 12S kit is expensive, but you only need that if you are using a caravan with a fridge and spare battery/split charge.

If your looking for a LR branded tow bar, Duckworth Parts do a nice one with easily detachable hitch (great for offroading) for £100 and it really is plug and play. Took me about 30 mins to do at Billing Show last year, when I eventually found the connector in the boot... drivers side... it is there honest !!
Just make sure it's what you want though.

no mate thats not the one i was looking at...
im getting a bolt on one, so I can use different hitch which has the pin and ball so I can use it for recoveries without the worry of the rope pinging off the top of the tow ball but I just need the electric kit so i can make it legal for road use :D

DO you mean route the wiring from the boot to the tow point, or from further down the car?

If you open the rear door, and remove the plastic floor panel between the door and the carpet, 8 torx screws are holding it in place as well as some friction clips so a good tug at one end will remove it. Fold your rear seats forward and remove the four net hooks that are holding the drivers side plastic moulding in the boot area. Three of them will come out just by turning them 90 degrees the top one towards the front of the car has a screw rod fixed to it so you'll have to keep turning until it comes out.
Once you have remove these you can pull the plastic panel from the base closest to the door, this will not come completely free, as there is plastic holding it in towards the rear, but a big of jiggery it will come free enough. Once you have access to what's behind it you will see the white land rover plug which you can fit the new tow hitch plug to. There are two black rubber grommets on the floor pan in the corner closest to the light clusters, if you remove one of these grommets and slice a cross wards slit into it you will be able to feed the cable through that to the underside of the car.
What I have done with mine, is to fix the socket to the bumper, by drilling a centre hole through the plastic and rear foam and taking the cable through there and then drilling three fixing holes once again through the bumper and foam. I used some long 4mm brass machine screws and then a washer and nut on the foam side of the bumper. Gives it a better neat look and gets it out of the way from the tow point. Ill take a photo tonight If I get a chance. Once you have fixed the socket to the desired location you can cable tie the cable in place to the tow bar frame.
