Title: Starter Motor and Ring
Post by: dmcgoo on November 28, 2005, 17:57:32
How long should it take a Land Rover dealership to change a starter motor and ring on a MK2 Freelander?  My local dealership have had my Freelander for over a week now after it failed to start, only had it for a few weeks !  I wouldn't mind but every time I call them they tell me should be ready tomorrow!

The actual job (I would guess) shouldn't be more than a day.. a lot depends on the availability of parts though..  A starter should be easy enough, but the ring might be a special order part, and that might be causing the delay.

They ought to be at least telling you what is going on though  :?

the starter takes about 45 min start to finiish but to take the gearbox out is a 7 hour job each way

Finally got it back today, but now when I go into reverse (its an auto) then back into Drive the display flashes between F and 4 and the Yellow HDC light is on.  If I turn the ignition off and on again it clears this fault and drives ok!
